Stillpoint Psychosynthesis

A calm, sacred space to meet yourself again — in the quiet between what’s been lost and what is becoming.
“At the still point of the turning world… there the dance is.”
— T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

A psycho-spiritual approach to therapy
Stillpoint Psychosynthesis offers a grounded, compassionate space for those navigating addiction, grief, disconnection, or profound transformation.
Rooted in the psychospiritual tradition of Psychosynthesis, this work honours both psychological healing and the quiet unfolding of the soul. It creates space for insight, creativity, and meaning while gently opening to something greater than the self.
Here you’re invited to return to what is essential and sacred within you — even if it has long been forgotten or buried.
You don’t need to have the words … just the willingness to return home to yourself.
You may be feeling …
adrift and struggling to stay afloat. You may be isolated from others, from life, or from yourself. This work is for those carrying a deep sense of disconnection.
The pain may be recent, tied to loss, change or crisis but it often echoes something older, more familiar: a longing for wholeness, a longing to belong.
You may be moving away from patterns that no longer serve —habits, roles or ways of being that once protected you but now leave you feeling stuck or split from your best intentions.
You may feel tired of repeating yourself, as if something keeps pulling you off course.
And yet something in you hopes for more. A sense of peace. A deeper calm. Life with meaning.
I work with people at many turning points: after addiction treatment, in the depths of grief, at the edge of something unknown. Some are just beginning their adult lives. Others are navigating midlife, retirement, or loss. Whatever the moment, there is often a quiet threshold: between what’s no longer true, and what is not yet formed.
You don’t need answers. But you do need willingness. A flicker of hope. A readiness to begin again. To reach, however gently, toward something greater than the self: through nature, or creativity, or the soul’s quiet language of symbols.
This work isn’t quick. It isn’t linear. But it is sacred.
And it begins exactly where you are.

What happens in a session?
We begin by taking time. Time to understand what brings you here. Time to explore what feels difficult, what’s no longer working and what you sense might be possible.
Each session usually begins with a gentle turning inward. Through breath, body awareness, and reflection, we create space to notice what’s present. Not just in the mind, but in the whole of you. From here something quieter can begin to speak.
The work may include dialogue, imagery, guided inner enquiry – creative or symbolic process always shaped by your needs and readiness. Nothing is rushed. Nothing forced.
Over time, you may begin to feel more choice, more space, and a growing trust in your own inner knowing.
Working Together
Sessions are 60 minutes and are held weekly, offering a steady rhythm to support the unfolding of the work.
Whenever possible, we meet in person, though online sessions are available if needed.
We begin with a free 20-minute consultation (usually via Zoom) to explore whether we feel like a good fit. If we decide to continue, the first full session is 90 minutes, giving us space to explore your story, current circumstances, and what you’re hoping for. From there, sessions continue at 60 minutes each.
The fee is £75 per session. A small number of reduced-fee places are available — please ask if this would support your access to therapy.
To book a consultation, feel free to get in touch by phone or text.
Meet Matthew
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working at IBM — a company whose mission is “to be a catalyst for positive change in the world.” My own work focused on helping people and processes transform. But something deeper kept calling. When I discovered the Institute of Psychosynthesis, whose mission is “Serving Humanity in Transition,” I knew I had found the path I needed to follow.
Psychosynthesis is now the foundation of my practice — a psychospiritual approach that honours both psychological healing and the unfolding of something more essential within us.
My own path has taught me that we can’t do this alone. The deeper we can be guided to go within, the more we reconnect — with others, with life, with purpose. That depth, for me, is not about sinking, but about finding a stillness from which we rise.
Alongside my private practice, I work in a residential rehab setting, supporting those in early recovery. I’m on the faculty of the Holistic Coaching Practitioner Programme at Psychosynthesis Coaching Limited. I’m also completing a Masters Thesis in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy and continue to train in deeper and deeper integrative approaches to healing and growth.
When not working I can often be found wandering in the forest where the trees connect me to something ancient and wise.
